About Antigram

Antigram is a browser extension designed for the common good, to fight back Instagram's dark design patters and addictive features, and return agency to the people that have to use it.

It can be downloaded for free and it will always be free, in both Firefox and Google Chrome (or derivatives). The source code will always be accessible and open, both to guarantee transparency and to allow external contributions.

It is a simple piece of software. It identifies the elements of the page that are related to the features selected to block, and it hides them. It is inspired by other extensions that were available at the time, such as News Feed Eradicator, but offers more granularity on which features can be blocked in Instagram.

Since its launch at the end of the 2019, it has changed overtime, specially focusing on simplifying the code and fixing the different operating errors that appear when the Instagram development team changes the interface. This is one of the issues of the fact that Instagram and other technological monopolies have their code hidden and not accessible for other people to improve. In this direction, this initiative has signed a joint letter other developers of similar tools to pressure the European Union and regulate these companies so that their code remains accessible and this tools can still operate.
